TUI Cruises donates to ‘Familienschutzwerk e.V.’ in Berlin - As part of the sponsorship project, guests and staff of the cruise line have raised 66,000 euros

Hamburg, 29 May 2026. Last year, guests and staff at TUI Cruises raised 66,000 euros for the ‘Familienschutzwerk e.V.’ in Berlin as part of a sponsorship project. The project in question is selected by the shipping company’s staff. Staff on shore and guests on board get involved in various activities in support of the sponsored project throughout the year.

The Berlin-based charity supports children from difficult family backgrounds.

The work of the Family Protection Organisation is divided into three areas: the Children’s Kitchen, saving lives and fulfilling heartfelt wishes. At the children’s kitchen, children not only enjoy a healthy meal, but also find a safe, welcoming space where they can recharge their batteries and learn through play. This programme is complemented by homework support, excursions and workshops, as well as a varied range of afternoon programmes featuring dance and sports classes.

As part of the 2025 sponsorship project, Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises, presented a cheque for 66,000 euros to Phillip Schneider of the charity ‘Familienschutzwerk e.V.’.

“Through our sponsorship project, we support a different organisation each year, chosen by our colleagues. Throughout the year, staff and guests get involved in various charity initiatives – such as the big raffle held as part of the internal New Year’s event or the "Annual on-board raffle," said Wybcke Meier, CEO of TUI Cruises.

Phillip Schneider, from the charity “Familienschutzwerk e.V.”, also expressed just how much this donation means to his organisation. "This support is of great importance to our club and, in particular, to the children. Thanks to this generous donation, we have already been able to carry out many of our planned projects this year, such as a swimming course, an educational outing into the countryside and a summer party for the children. We greatly appreciate this commitment from TUI Cruises."

This year, TUI Cruises is once again getting involved as part of the Sponsorship project. In 2026, the shipping company is supporting the “KidsAnker” project run by the Hamburg-based charity “Bürger helfen Bürgern e.V.”. “KidsAnker” is an outpatient children’s and young people’s hospice service run by Elbdiakonie, which supports families with children, teenagers and young adults who are chronically ill, in need of care or suffering from life-shortening illnesses.
