TUI Cruises names captain for second InTUItion ship

Finnish Captain Jan Gustaf Rautawaara takes command of Mein Schiff Flow, the second newbuild in TUI Cruises' InTUItion ship class. It will accompany the ship on its first voyages from summer 2026.

Rautawaara discovered his passion for seafaring on the Finnish coast. After graduating from navigation school and obtaining his first licence, he served on various international ships and was Staff Captain on the first Mein Schiff 1 and Mein Schiff 2. He has many years of experience in new construction and test operations as well as in navigation under demanding conditions.

The return to TUI Cruises in 2024 marked the start of a new chapter for Captain Rautawaara. After his command of Mein Schiff 6, he took over the bridge of Mein Schiff Relax in 2025 - and thus also the helm of the first newbuild in the InTUItion class. The bridge of Mein Schiff Flow, the latest feel-good ship in the fleet, is equipped with state-of-the-art navigation and control technology. Digital displays and touch panels are largely replacing traditional instruments.

From summer 2026, Mein Schiff Flow will be deployed in the Western Mediterranean before moving to the Orient in winter 2026/27.
